Once a month, we invite you to take a look at what’s going on at H&R and to see what happened last month from the small celebrations we had to the big projects we completed. Ever wanted to get an inside look at H&R? This is your chance. These are our Big Shots from December.

christmas tree made from bearings
This is Year 2 for the Great H&R Bearing Tree and we still think it holds its own against any Christmas tree you might come across during the holiday season.
taking apart an excavator
The bolts holding the housing and slewing gear to the carbody often don’t come easy. Add in that it’s cramped, it’s greasy, and it’s loud and you’ve got yourself the definition of a dirty job.
carrying an engine with a lift
Pulling the engine out of a big machine and getting it into storage often requires an assist from a forklift, an overhead bridge crane, and some careful planning.
loading a flatbed
The H&R shipping teams take a lot of pride in getting a part to a customer — quickly and smoothly. Sometimes it's as easy as popping the part in a box and sliding it onto a truck, sometimes it requires an entire trailer. Knowing what each part is going to need is one of the things that sets the shipping team apart from our competitors.
parts all lined up
When chefs arrange all their ingredients perfectly before they start cooking they call it “mise en place.” The H&R parts technicians kind of do the exact thing before they start a job, but they definitely do not call it call that.
an excavator in the middle of disassembly
There’s just something rewarding about the process of an entire excavator being torn down, piece by piece, part by part, bolt by bolt. Can’t explain it.
washing an engine
Blowing off the dirt and washing off the grease is often the first big step in seeing what we’re really dealing with after salvaging a part.
Santa at H&R
Santa made the rounds in Buffalo before the city got blasted with a massive blizzard. Here’s hoping your Christmas was warm and full of cheer.
torching a part
A little torching brings on the fireworks in Teardown — that’s one way to ring in the new year. Hopefully, your own celebration is even brighter.
